Because of this, then even getting some back links to your home page or interior pages from a site that has high page rank and offers free ads is a win/win. 

A few common sites that have higher page rank are Craigslist and Backpage.  Register, just put up a free ad in services or for sale, or free, and make sure the ad has a link to your website.  Even if the link moves further down the page over time, it is still there and you are still ranking for the term. 

You probably will not get tons of traffic from free ads, however, you can improve your SEO and rise in the organic rankings by using free ads.  It does not cost anything to try.

My suggestion is that if you want to get better seo and higher page rank for your website, that you visit Backpage and open a free account and write a brief 3 or 4 line ad for one of your websites.  I often use this strategy when I open a new website so I can begin to get my website indexed by google or another major search engine.
